Matthews Troop 46 Update

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Please take a moment to read the Troop Update below. Thank you for being a part of Matthews Troop 46.

 

Tuesday 4/11 – Spring Break no Meeting

Tuesday 4/18 – Scouts Camping need to bring in a fully packed back pack. We will go through the gear, repack, and hike around Matthews in two groups following map and compass coordinates. Afterwards, hikers will conduct food prep.

April Camping – 4/21-23 – Black Mountain – 3 open slots for this trip. Would be nice to have another couple of scouts on the 12 mile hike. High 71F / Low 49F

Troop Camping Gear List Resources

  • 64 ounces of water containers minimum. 32L Nalgene’s connect to our water filtration pumps.

  • Head Lamps
  • Trekking poles!!  Very valuable even if the cheapo Walmart brand
  • Rain poncho
  • Two pairs of wool socks. It’s a muddy trail
  • Beanie and wool or fleece pullover
  • Sleeping pad 
  • Sleeping bag

Troop Gear Provided

  • Backpack Stove for each pair of scouts with fuel.
  • Backpack food will be provided by the troop.
  • We will not need to take tents. We will be camping in remote shelters.

Other Notes

  • We had a neckerchief get misplaced during the last outing. If you find an extra, please turn it in to our leadership.
  • Please use the Scoutbook Mobile App to see your scout’s Payment Logs. The Scoutbook/PayPal integration appears to be working great.
