Happy Tuesday!
When backpacking and day hiking, having stuff for good trail snacks is important.
They are good for morale and a little quick energy.
Unfortunately for some, the chief ingredient in many retail trail mixes is nuts of some kind.
Here are some ideas for ingredients that can be used to make your own trail mix.
Ingredient Ideas
Pumpkin seeds (salted or unsalted)
Dried fruit (bananas, apricots, cranberries, raisins, etc.)
Crackers (goldfish or similar – something small)
Mini pretzels
Candy (M&Ms, various chocolate chips, etc. – better for cooler weather)
Sunflower seeds (salted or unsalted)
Grain (Chex and Cheerios cereal)
Let your imagination be your guide!
Mix up the ingredients of your choice and portion into snack size zip-loc bags.
