We had a terrific weekend at Belk Scout Camp. We fielded 3 patrols in the competition: the Goofy Goobers led by Luke Morris, the Croc’s w/ Socks led by Anthony Paulsen, and the new scouts participated as the Rebel Alliance patrol with Benjamin Kahn serving as patrol leader for the day.
I would like to mention that we had some personal gear challenges. We had some scouts without a grey troop T-Shirt. I am not referring to the new scouts. We will try to get those T-shirts issued Tuesday night. Please think about what size your scout needs. One shirt is included with your dues as you join. Additional shirts can be purchased for $10 each. But, we had some veteran members of the troop that forgot to wear or pack a troop T-Shirt. The other piece of gear that seemed to be missing was a poncho or rain suit. It rained a bit this weekend. As much as we try to teach the scouts to be responsible and properly pack for our trips, I would like to challenge the parents to help us help them be successful when we travel and participate in scouting activities. Here is a link to the recommended gear to pack on our website.
Congratulations, some of our scouts won First Place in the Log Drag competition and the Rebel Alliance Patrol earned a ribbon for participating in the new scout division. Additionally, Benjamin Kahn advanced to the rank of Scout on Saturday after completing his first scoutmaster’s conference.
We had a terrific weekend and it was a great experience to spend time with other troops from our district at Camporee. Thank you for being a part of Matthews Troop 46.
